My Story
Find Your Happily Ever After Too
At the age of 63, I maintain my weight and enjoy an active lifestyle without pain. I have always been passionate about health and longevity which led me to become a personal trainer at 50 so I could help others. I have worked with women who have been overweight for years and often had accompanying joint pain and chronic health concerns. Many of my clients were looking forward to major events such as their daughter’s wedding or a family reunion. While the focus was on their physical fitness, I noticed they were crash dieting which proved to be unsuccessful or a temporary fix.
These women wanted to look good. They knew that they would be surrounded by friends and family, and there would be photos…While these events are meant to be joyful, the planning can be stressful. The new diet was creating additional stress and inflammation in their body. When people went to great lengths to lose weight, they did things that hindered their progress and the weight returned.
While the general recommendation today is that a “balanced” diet and “regular” physical activity is the recipe for losing weight and achieving good health, as a health coach, I have learned that there are so many variations in our caloric needs. Each person’s body is unique. The answer lies in the WHY. Why, in your case, eating less does not cause you to lose weight, or exercising more does not lead to weight loss. I have found that by working closely and supporting my clients with their individual needs they have become empowered to choose behaviors that work for them and achieve their weight loss goals.
I love what I do now for mothers of the bride and other women during this time of our lives. I find it so rewarding to see my clients looking younger and feeling better than they have in many years. My clients are sleeping better, have more energy for their grandchildren, and can be more active and travel with less pain. It is about making changes that will last a lifetime.
